Zebra cake is a real cooking classic. Today we suggest cooking zebra muffins using a similar recipe. It is quick, simple and, which is most important, delicious. The double-coloured sponge batter does look like a cute zebra. Your children will really like these muffins for a snack.

Prepare the ingredients. Remove the butter from the fridge in advance, so that it is soft and at room temperature. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Cream the softened butter with both the sugars using a mixer. Add the eggs one by one, whisking well after each go.

Add the sour cream, mix.

Sift the flour with the baking powder and reserve 1 tbsp of the mixture. You will need it later.

Add the flour to the batter in small portions, mix carefully after each go.

Divide the batter in two parts. Add the reserved tbsp flour to one part and the cocoa powder to the second one. Mix the batter in each bowl till homogeneous.

Prepare the muffin tins, put a paper liner into each one. Fill the tins, alternating 1 tbsp of the light part and 1 tbsp of the dark one, till they are ¾ full.

Optionally make a pattern with a toothpick by moving it from the edges to the centre.

Bake in the middle of the oven for 25-30 mins. Check the doneness with a toothpick, it should come out dry.
