Potato is one of the staples of our table. If you’re fed up with boiled potatoes or potato mash, this recipe is just what you need. We suggest cooking potatoes stuffed with red fish and green peas. The dish is very attractive and festive, therefore it will fit into both your everyday diet or a festive table.

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Thoroughly wash the potatoes (4 pcs) and cut in half lengthwise. Choose potatoes with even skin and of the same size to be evenly cooked. Pierce the flesh with a fork and season to taste. Grease the baking form with olive oil and put the potatoes, the cut-side up. Cover with foil and bake for 1 h 30 mins depending on the size of the potatoes.

Meanwhile, blanch the frozen peas and drain well. If the peas are fresh, put it into boiling water for 1-2 mins, drain and rinse in cold water.

Cut the fish into small cubes.

Wash the greens (dill, parsley and spring onions), drain and chop finely, remove the hard stems. Set aside some of the chopped greens for decoration.

Remove the potatoes from the oven, remove the foil and check the doneness with a knife. Let the potatoes cool slightly and remove the flesh with a teaspoon. Try to keep the peel whole.

Mash the flesh with a fork, season to taste.

Add the fish, peas, greens and sour cream to the mash. Mix thoroughly, adjust the seasoning.

Spread the filling into potato “boats”. Grate the cheese finely and sprinkle on top. Bake for 15-20 mins.

  1. If you want to cook it for a festive table, , bake the potatoes in advance and prepare the filling. Keep them in the fridge, covered with foil or in an airtight container. On the X-day, you’ll have to spread the filling and bake the potatoes before serving.
  2. You may experiment with the filling. For example, use finely chopped bacon, baked meat or poultry, vegetables instead of the fish. You may also use any cheese to your taste.
