Mimosa salad

Ingredients

Classic Mimosa salad is a bright festive dish. The ingredients for this layered salad is very simple – vegetables, onions and fish preserves. You may change them to your taste, e.g. tuna, dog-salmon, mackerel. Also eggs are used for this salad – they are separated into yolks and whites, grated and sprinkled over the surface of the salad which makes it look like the flower of the same name.

Prepare the ingredients. Pour off the liquid from the fish and mash the fish with a fork, if necessary.

Hard boil the eggs for 10 mins and boil the carrots and potatoes till soft. Let cool and peel the vegetables and eggs.

Roughly grate the cooled potatoes. We used a 12 cm salad ring for this recipe. You may use a ring made from a plastic bottle or assemble the salad on a flat serving dish or not too deep salad bowl. Spread the grated potatoes evenly and spread the mayonnaise.

Layer the fish evenly and spread with the mayonnaise.

Finely chop the onions. Put it into a sieve and out into boiling water for 5 mins. Drain well and spread over the salad. Continue with the mayonnaise.

Roughly grate the carrots. Put onto the salad and spread in a thin layer, make one more mayonnaise layer.

Separate the egg into whiles and yolks. Grate the whites, combine with the mayonnaise before adding to the salad, as it is hard to spread mayonnaise over eggs. Layer the whites onto the salad.

Finely grate the cheese and top the salad with it. You don’t need to add mayonnaise here.

If you want, add a thin butter layer or mayonnaise. Finely grate the butter and sprinkle it over the salad in a thin layer. It’s better to keep the butter in the freezer for several minutes and grate straight on the salad.
