    There is a really good habit to start your day with porridge, but often kids refuse to eat it. Just add a sweet pear and raisins to your usual millet porridge, and it turns into a truly tasty dessert.

    Prepare the ingredients.

    Wash the millet under running water until water runs clear. In the end it's highly recommended to rinse it under hot water to remove the grease coating the grains.

    Put the millet into the thick-base pot, add water or milk. Bring to the boil over high heat, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to a minimum. Leave to simmer for 15-20 minutes.

    While the millet is simmering, halve the pears, remove seeds and finely dice the pulp. Wash the raisins thoroughly.

    Melt the butter in a pan, add honey.

    Add the diced pears and raisins, and stir. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring regularly, until the pears soften.

    Divide the cereal between serving plates, add the pears and raisins topping and serve.

    Tips:

    1. While the millet is being cooked, keep an eye on the level of liquid in the pot. If the liquid has evaporated, but the millet is not cooked yet, add more milk or water. Here you can find a few more tips on cooking millet, as well as learn some facts on its nutritious characteristics.
    2. Feel free to replace pears with apples, and during summer season – with peaches, nectarines, or apricots.
    3. If you are allergic to honey, substitute it with sugar, 2 tablespoons of which would be enough.
