Make the mince from veal and pork using a grinder.

Peel and dice the onion. Fry with some vegetable oil till softened.

Peel and dice the potatoes, put in the food processor. Add the cream and fried onions. Blend till homogeneous.

Add the pureed mixture to the minced meat. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Refrigerate.

Make the sauce. Peel the onion and mince as finely as possible. Fry with some vegetable oil till softened. Crush garlic in a garlic press, add to the onions and fry, stirring, for about 1 min. Add chopped tomatoes and herbs, season with salt, pepper and sugar. Mix. Cook over medium heat for 5 mins. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cut the cheese into small squares and dredge in flour.

Divide the minced meat into 12 equal pieces. Form the meatballs and press a piece of cheese inside each one. Seal the edges and dredge the meatballs in flour.
