Step 1

Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F). Sift together flour, cocoa, ground cinnamon and soda. Add salt and sugar, mix it up. Pour in vinegar, oil and water. Stir the batter up with the whisk until smooth (the consistency should be like thick sour cream).

Step 2

Sort the walnuts, chop into medium size pieces. Add walnuts to the dough and stir up.

Step 3

Peel the skin from 2/3 of the pear (bottom part) and cut off a bit of the bottom so that the pear could stand stably. Pour 700 ml of water into saucepan, add honey, juice of 1/2 lemon and heat up. Place pears into warm water and bring to the boil. Cook for 2-3 min. It’s important to take solid pears as the soft ones could lose their shape.

Step 4

Transfer pears to the kitchen towel and dry them a bit so that the excessive liquid is gone. Grease 13x27 cm baking pan with vegetable oil and place the dough in.

Step 5

Put pears into the middle of the dough keeping some distance between them. Make sure they stand stably.

Step 6

Bake pear pie in the middle of the oven at 180 C (350 F) for about 40 min. Check the readiness with a wooden toothpick – it should come out dry.

Once ready, turn the pie over (holding the pears), remove from baking pan, place on the dish and top with powdered sugar using a sieve.
