Flaky tuna hand pies

Ingredients

Just imagine: puff pastry was invented in 17th century! Since then there have been a lot of people who love it. You can make croissants, hand pies, puffs, pies with different fillings and the famous “Napoleon cake”. This list can be quite long. Ready-made puff pastry may be a real go-to if your time for cooking is limited. Just defrost the pastry and bake whatever you want. And today we’re cooking delicious puff pastry hand pies with tuna.

Step 1

Remove the pastry from the fridge in advance, remove the pack and leave to defrost on a working surface dusted with flour. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Layer the baking sheet with parchment or grease with a little oil. Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely.

Fry them till golden. Wash the bell pepper, remove the seeds and membranes, dice the flesh. Cook for 3-5 mins, stirring from time to time.

Pour off the liquid from the tuna, transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork. Add the cooked vegetables and chopped dill. Mix.

Roll the pastry 2-3 mm thick. Cut into squares (8-10 cm).

Put the filling into the centre of each square. In a small separate bowl whisk the egg slightly. Brush the edges of the squares with the egg.

Fold together two opposite corners and seal them. You will get a triangular pie.

Put the pies onto the baking sheet and brush with the egg. Bake in the middle of the oven till golden, about 25 mins.
