Chicken strips in cornflakes breading

Ingredients

If you are a big fast food lover but still consider it unhealthy, these chicken strips will be a nice alternative to those from fast food restaurants. Use our recipe, and you will be sure about the ingredients and able to regulate the fat content. These delicious and healthy strips will be enjoyed by both children and grown-ups. One more advantage is that strips, raw or cooked, can be frozen and used later, so you can make them in advance.

Prepare the ingredients.

Cut the chicken breasts into long 2-3cm strips.

In a blender bowl combine cornflakes and salt and grind finely. Transfer to a plate. If you don’t have a blender, put the cornflakes into a plastic bag and roll them with a rolling pin.

In a deep bowl slightly whisk the egg with a fork.

Dip the chicken strips into the egg, and then dredge in cornflakes crumbs. Do not stack them onto each other to prevent the breading from sticking.

Heat a non-stick pan, grease with a little oil. The most convenient way to do it is to use a brush or a cotton pad.

Put the breaded strips onto the pan leaving some space between them. Fry over medium heat till golden, then turn over, reduce the heat, cover and fry for 10 mins till cooked. Repeat the procedure for all the strips.

Serve with tomato sauce, ketchup or any sauce to your taste. Enjoy your meal!

Tips:

1. Choose cornflakes made from just cornmeal and salt.
2. If you make the “grown-up” version of the strips, you can also add red or black pepper to the breeding. We recommend trying this recipe with smoked paprika.
3. If you have no non-stick pan, you will need a little more oil.
