    We offer you to cook a pumpkin pie – a traditional American pumpkin pie that we enriched with a fresh accent of orange for even more bright taste. This pie has an outstanding intense taste and delicate texture. What is more, it will be loved even by non-fans of pumpkin as its taste is practically not recognized in this pie. It must be cooked!

    Prepare the ingredients.

    Wash pumpkin, cut to segments, dredge with a pinch of sugar and place to preheated to 230 C oven for 20 mins.

    Reduce the temperature in the oven to 200 C. Make short pastry: mix cold butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, egg and flour.

    Put pastry to a floured surface and knead until smooth, constantly adding flour, you may need a bit more flour.

    Grease a baking form with butter (we used a 20x10 cm form in the recipe), place the short pastry inside, flattening it manually over the bottom and sides of the form.

    Pin the pastry plurally with a fork, put a cooking sheet on it with any weight: it may be grain or beans (e.g. lentil). Bake for 20 minutes in the middle level of the oven, till slight golden color. Remove weight.

    While the base of the pie is in the oven, make the filler: peel orange with a fine grater (orange layer only), than press juice.

    Mash pumpkin flesh with a blender; add juice and orange peel, cinnamon. Pore to a stew-pan and boil at a moderate heat, stirring unless extra liquid evaporates. Add cream into the boiled down puree, add sugar optional, stir.

    Spread evenly the pumpkin filler over the pastry base and place to a preheated to 200 C oven for 20 mins.

    Chill the ready pie on a wire rack, take out of the baking form carefully and put into fridge for night.
